Alex Carcamo, M.D. is a superbly trained Board Certified Dermatologist and Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon who earned his Medicine Doctorate from Harvard Medical School and completed his Specialty Training in Dermatology in the Harvard Dermatology Residency Program.
During his studies at Harvard Medical School Dr. Carcamo distinguished himself among the top medical students in the nation achieving honors in 12 of 15 clinical rotations including Dermatology and Dermatopathology and represented Harvard Medical School in Leadership positions of the American Medical Association and the Massachusetts Medical Society. While at Harvard, he also performed a Scientific Research Fellowship at the prestigious Harvard Skin Disease Research Institute.
As a Dermatology resident at Harvard, Dr. Carcamo gained vast experience diagnosing and treating a wide array of acute and chronic skin conditions including dermatologic emergencies, skin cancer and cosmetic problems requiring laser treatment.
Dr. Carcamo rounded out his training with a Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Carcamo is a well published author on a host of topics including cutaneous lymphoma, laser skin resurfacing, radiofrequency and botulinum toxin for the treatment of wrinkles. He has been an invited speaker at a number of prestigious Cosmetic and Laser Surgery Conferences including those of the International Society of Cosmetic and Laser Surgeons and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Carcamo is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.
On his time off, Dr. Carcamo enjoys hiking, paddle boarding and surfing in our beautiful beaches, and playing tennis and golf.
Dr. Flament is superbly trained in skin disease, skin cancer, Mohs surgery and reconstructive surgery.
"While I treat many skin diseases, I have a special interest in skin cancers. By using the Mohs technique for treatment of skin cancer, I can provide the highest cure rates, while still conserving the most normal skin. I also have experience in reconstructive surgery, which often allows me to repair the surgical defects that very day in the office."
Dr. Flament earned her Medicine Doctorate at University of Missouri, Columbia. She completed her training in Dermatology and subsequently Procedural Dermatology and Mohs Surgery at the University of Minnesota (UMN). The Mohs fellowship is one of the esteemed programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Flament is now an established fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) and of the American College of Mohs Surgery (FACMS).
Prior to joining Complete Dermatology, Dr. Flament had a successful tenure at Park Nicollet in Minnesota, serving as Mohs surgeon and Medical Director of the Mohs lab and also as faculty at UMN, directly teaching medical students and dermatology residents.
In her free time, Dr. Flament enjoys volunteer and community service activities, SCUBA diving, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. We welcome her to our practice Ohana with a warm Aloha!
A native of New England, Dr. Frankel graduated in Biology from Dartmouth University. She then earned her Medical Doctorate at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, where she also completed a Fellowship in Pathology. She subsequently completed her Dermatology training at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital Dermatology Residency Program in New York City. While at Mount Sinai, Dr. Frankel also completed a Clinical Dermatopharmacology Fellowship and ran the Clinical Trials Unit for the Dermatology Department at Mount Sinai.
On completion of her training, Dr. Frankel established a successful medical dermatology practice for Southern Maine Health Care, which included a Phototherapy center.
Dr. Frankel has a special interest in skin cancer and skin cancer surgery, as well as treating a wide array of medical dermatoses such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and acne. Dr. Frankel looks forward to providing comprehensive skin care to her patients by providing access to cutting-edge treatments including dermatologic surgery and laser treatments for psoriasis, vascular lesions, precancerous lesions and photodamage.
Dr. Frankel has been coming to our beautiful Islands from the time she was 8 years. She fell in love with our people, our food, and our natural beauty, and it has always been a dream of hers to practice medicine here. In her free time, Dr. Frankel cares for several rescue animals and enjoys competitive weight lifting, hiking, and hopes to take up surfing at our beautiful beaches.
Brooke Garcia, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant that received her undergraduate degree at the University of Utah in 2007 with a major in Behavioral Health and Science. She also received a Master of Science in Gerontology at the University of Utah. She then went on to do a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona in 2010.
During her training in the Physician Assistant program, she chose to complete two additional elective rotations in dermatology. Brooke enjoys practicing dermatology because she is able to treat the patient's overall well being since the skin is a reflection of what is taking place inside the body.
Prior to joining Complete Dermatology, Brooke practiced dermatology in an academic setting in Phoenix, Arizona providing comprehensive dermatologic inpatient and outpatient care to adult and pediatric patients. This has provided her with the clinical experience to treat various disorders of the skin, hair, and nails.
When she is not in the clinic, she enjoys spending her free time running, hiking, and spending time outdoors. While growing up Brooke was able to travel with her family to the islands of Hawaii and was introduced to the Aloha Spirit. Brooke is very happy to join the Complete Dermatology team and is looking forward to providing quality care to the patients here on the island.
Dr. Knox brings a wealth of expertise with over 25 years of professional experience in Dermatology and a Masters of Public health, with an emphasis on the environment and toxicology, specializing in the treatment of skin cancer and diseases of the skin, hair and nails.
At The Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world, Dr. Knox studied to become a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health. Dr. Knox comes from an accomplished family of physicians and scientists. After becoming board certified, Dr. Knox joined his father; former Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine and past President of the American Board of Dermatology, in their private practice of dermatology. Other doctors in the family include, a great grandfather who was a General Practitioner, an uncle and stepfather who were also Dermatologists, a son with a PhD in artificial intelligence who is currently doing his post doc at MIT, and his youngest son who is a premed/biomedical engineer major at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Dr. Knox enjoys practicing medical and surgical dermatology. Over most of his career he has had the privilege of teaching Dermatology to doctors in their residency training programs as a section Chief at a teaching hospital in Houston and a Dermatology Department Chairman in Seattle.
Outside of medicine Dr. Knox loves hiking, boating, organic farming, cycling, training dogs and all the outdoor activities that come with living in Hawaii.
Dr. Knox previously ran his own practice on the island of Maui. Complete Dermatology welcomes Dr. Knox back to the Hawaiian islands as he joins our Ohana in bringing you superb medical care with the Aloha spirit.
Christopher Lum, MD is a board-certified Dermatopathologist with an additional subspecialty board in Molecular Diagnostics. He has a special interest in cutaneous lymphomas and melanocytic tumors.
Dr. Lum was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduate studies in immunology, he did a surgical pathology residency at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles County General Hospital and a dermatopathology fellowship at Weill Cornell University/ Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Lum directs dermatopathology services. The Complete Dermatology clinics have in-sourced their Dermatopathology services for enhanced clinical correlation and seamless clinical decision making by histopathologic assessment.
Dr. Lum's responsibility is to ensure that your tissue sample is handled with care and precision. He is able to utilize a wide range of standard testing methodologies and immunohistochemistry as well as state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques such as direct immunofluorescence, viral direct fluorescence assays, interphase fluorescent in situ hybridization and DNA sequencing for their use in cutaneous diseases.

In his free time, Dr. Lum enjoys spending time with his four children.
Justin K. Maio , PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant. He studied at Oregon State University, receiving his Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Exercise Sport and Science in 2003 and 2004 respectively, where he graduated with Suma Cum Laude honors. In 2003, he was selected as the National Association of Sport and Physical Education Major of the Year. In 2011, he became a Native Hawaiian Health Scholar and earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from Pacific University in 2013.
While in clinical training, he completed rotations in dermatology, emergency medicine, general and orthopedic surgery, and internal medicine. It was during this time that he discovered his appreciation for the joys and challenges specific to the field of dermatology.
Prior to joining Complete Dermatology, Justin practiced primary care, working with Honolulu's underserved community at Waikiki Health. During his down time, he trained and worked at another general/cosmetic dermatology practice. His training and diverse experience history have equipped Justin to be comfortable in treating a variety of skin conditions in patients of all backgrounds.
When he's away from the clinic, Justin enjoys surfing, spending time with his family (preferably at the beach) and exercising at the local Crossfit affiliate. He's looking forward to joining the Complete Dermatology ohana and is eager to meet you.
Dr. Padilla earned her Medical Doctorate at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. She completed her Medicine Internship at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital before returning to Florida to complete her Dermatology Residency Program at the University of South Florida. Her residency training included working at four metropolitan hospital systems, as well as various Medical Dermatology Centers. She augmented her surgical education with additional training in Plastic Surgery at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital
Dr. Padilla has published numerous abstracts and articles in Dermatologic journals and won several awards during her residency, including an Award of Distinction for her presentation on minimally invasive surgical closures at the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons Meeting in 2016. During her final year of residency, she was named Academic Chief Resident. In this role, she helped develop a novel resident Cosmetic Dermatology curriculum, including training under world renowned cosmetic dermatologists, and led the medical dermatology courses for her program.
Dr. Padillaʼs hobbies include exploring new places, listening to audiobooks and outdoor activities with her soon-to-be husband. She is very happy to relocate to Hawaii and is looking forward to bringing comprehensive cutting edge Dermatologic care to our Patients.
Eric Yukumoto, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant that received his undergraduate degree at Pacific University in 2004 with a major in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He then went on to do his Master of Physician Assistant degree at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, California in 2008, where he co-authored an article entitled, “Iatrogenic Osteoporosis in Dermatology” that was published in the International Journal of Dermatology. During his clinical training he completed rotations in Internal Medicine, General Surgery and General Dermatology. Additionally, Eric performed further training in Dermatologic Surgery performing biopsies and excisions. His training has endowed him with the clinical experience to diagnose and treat various skin cancers, rashes, acne and other disorders of the skin, hair and nails. Patients have appreciated the superb care of Eric in our practice over the last 4 years.
Eric was born and raised on Oahu with his family in Aiea and is very familiar with the customs and lifestyle of being a local Hawaii boy. After finishing his Physician Assistant degree, Eric knew he wanted to return to Hawaii to be near family and give back to his community.
Eric enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends, especially during potlucks, where he gets to eat all kinds of food. He loves playing tennis for the exercise, but also for the competition during USTA League tennis. He always remembers to set a good example by wearing and reapplying his zinc oxide based sunscreen whenever he's enjoying the beautiful Hawaiian sun.
